The Texas Project Lead The Way Core Training at The University of Texas at Tyler

PLTW Professional Development is a three-phase program designed to teach the content and pedagogical skills needed to instruct each PLTW course. It’s focused on proper preparation, in-depth training and continuing education. The three phases of professional development are:

• Phase 1: Pre-requisite Training (Previously called Readiness Training)
• Phase 2: Core Training
• Phase 3: Ongoing Training

Core Training is the second phase of the PLTW Professional Development program. Sessions are INTENSE training and is designed to provide an in-depth overview and hands-on, course-specific training of the curriculum with a strong focus on pedagogy and professional networking. A teacher must successfully complete Core Training for each PLTW course they plan on teaching.

As a component of the renowned University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Tyler is located in the heart of East Texas between Dallas and Shreveport, Louisiana. The natural beauty of East Texas is exemplified by UT Tyler’s Harvey Lake and the many trees and rolling hills that give the campus a park-like environment. Our 204-acre wooded campus is built around the lake, which is stocked with ducks and turtles. The retreat atmosphere of UT Tyler is the perfect setting for the PLTW Summer Core Training.
